Helene Maimann
After studying history, German studies and philosophy in Vienna, Maimann did her doctorate with a basic research on Austrian exile, which was published in 1975 under the title "Politics in the waiting room: Austrian exile policy in Great Britain 1938-1945." Maimann developed the professional field of Applied History in Austrian History, for all media: publication, exhibition, radio, documentary film. She has been working in all these branches of conveying knowledge to the public since 1981. She has also written several theoretical and methodological texts. Between 1980 and 1994 she was a lecturer at the Universities of Vienna as well as Visiting Professor at the University of Salzburg and at the Vienna University of Technology. Helene Maimann directed major exhibitions on Austrian contemporary history in the 1980s. After many years working for the Ludwig Boltzmann - Gesellschaft Maimann worked from 1991 as an editor for the ORF. In addition, Maimann published numerous articles and books and curated the topics "National Socialism" and "Exile" (2005) in the Republic Exhibition "Das Neue Österreich" at the Belvedere in Vienna in 2008. Maimann has been working mainly as a filmmaker and author since 2008 and teaches at the Vienna Film Academy of the University of Music and Performing Arts.
