David Grossman
David Grossman (born January 25, 1954 in Jerusalem) is an Israeli writer and peace activist. He is the author of children's and youth books, novels and essays. Grossman lives in a suburb of Jerusalem. He is married and father of three children. David Grossman studied philosophy and theater at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He then worked as a correspondent and moderator for the Israeli public service broadcaster, i.a. he was responsible for a popular children's program. In 1988 he was dismissed from radio because he refused to conceal that the Palestinian leadership had proclaimed its own state. Next to Amos Oz, David Grossman is today one of the best-known peace activists in Israel. He is also internationally famous as a writer. His most famous works include " A Horse Walks Into The Bar" (In 2017 it was awarded with the “Man Booker International Prize” - the first time an Israeli author won the award), "Lion Honey" as well as "A woman flees from a message" and "Where you lead me ". In several books he has commented critically on the Middle East conflict. Already in 1989 he was awarded the Mount Zion Award for his commitment to peace. How important peace in the Middle East is, was precisely what David Grossman experienced firsthand: in August 2006, Grossman's second son Uri fell in southern Lebanon. A few days earlier, David Grossman had called for an end to the fighting.
