Ursula Strauss
Ursula Strauss grew up in Pöchlarn (Lower Austria) in the district of Melk, where her father Rupert Strauss was mayor. From 1993 to 1996 she attended drama school at the Volkstheater and played on numerous domestic and German stages. A film career followed: For her main role in "Revanche" (2008) she was awarded a special prize at the Graz Film Festival Diagonale, which usually does not give out acting awards. As of 2009, she became Commissioner Angelika Schnell, for which she received a Romy in 2010. In 2012 she was awarded the Austrian Film Prize. Also in 2012, Strauss curated the Autumn / Winter Festival Wachau in real time. In October 2013 she took over the presidency of the Academy of Austrian Film together with Stefan Ruzowitzky. In the summer of 2018 she played the role of Brunhild at the Nibelungen Festival Worms, directed by Roger Vontobel in Siegfried's heirs, for which she could accept the Adorf Prize. Strauss likes to take clear positions when it comes to social discrimination and is committed to combating child poverty.
